This update contains updated modules for fixing the bugs of DocuWorks
5.0.x. After installing this update on a machine installed with DocuWorks 5.0.x,
the version of DocuWorks will be updated to DocuWorks 5.0.6.
1-1 New Features in this Version
- The 9 x 11" size has been added to the standard size paper.
- A plug-in to transmit a mail to Lotus Notes has been added.

- Fixed problem that Windows® desktop cannot be used while executing the XDW_ApplyOcr

- Fixed problem that an error occurs when [Inherit the annotations] is selected
in the dialog box asking whether to create a DocuWorks document in the following

- Create DocuWorks document from an application file with its original
data attached.
- Delete some of the pages of the DocuWorks document.
- Edit and save/close the original data.
- Fixed problem that after [0] is set for [Percent] in the [Zoom] dialog box
of DocuWorks Viewer, and an error message is shown, DocuWorks Viewer may crash

- Fixed problem that when you open DocuWorks binder from the hyperlink of
the other applications, and set [Binder View in Sequential Page] as the view,
the icon of the head of the document name may not be displayed in the [Binder

- Fixed problem that in Windows® 98 and Windows® Me, when if you
open the properties of DocuWorks printer from the control panel, display Help
from the [Paper/Output] tab, and then close the properties of DocuWorks Printer,

- Fixed problem that if you click [OK] after entering many characters in the
[Tooltip] of the [Link Properties] dialog box, the DocuWorks Viewer may crash.

- Fixed problem that when you click [go to] button in the standard toolbar
while a document with multiple pages is selected and InfoView is displayed
in floating mode, DocuWorks Desk may freeze. (8901)
- Fixed problem that when you execute Page Layout plug-in on pages to a document
without pages, the DocuWorks document remains busy. (8902)
- Fixed problem that when converting a file that contains figures of complicated
gradation, the file size may be 10 or more times. (8903)
- Fixed problem that when you use Sort Pages plug-in or File Optimization
plug-in and the process is interrupted by an error, the document remains busy.

- Fixed problem that an error occurs when all check boxes were selected in
the dialog box asking whether to create a DocuWorks document in the following

- Display a binder including more than one internal document as
the sequential pages.
- Move the original data among the internal documents.
- Complete edit and save/exit the original data.
- Fixed problem that when you set [Date] to [Value] in the [Custom] tab of
the [Document Property] dialog box, the result of the search may indicate
the date which is a day after than the actual setting in [Search result] on
[Custom] in the [Find] dialog box. (8933)
- Fixed problem that in Windows® 98 and Windows® Me, if you display
the [DocuWorks Printer properties] dialog box from more than one applications
at one time, the application may crash. (8937)
- Fixed problem that when an error occurs after specifying the destination
to save a signed document, DocuWorks Viewer may forcibly terminate. (For example,
when you cannot access to the private key by using the signature of the Digital

- Fixed problem that when you convert a document from Microsoft® Word to DocuWorks
by using the reduced print function of Microsoft® Word, the data on the right
side may be lost. (8249)
- Fixed problem that if you convert an image file that is low in resolution
and extremely large in size (e.g. resolution is 1 dpi, height is 44 m) to
DocuWorks document by dragging and dropping it to DocuWorks Desk, its thumbnail
may be indicated as X mark. (8301)
- Fixed problem that you are able to sign using Electronic Signature on an
application document that DocuWorks file as OLE format is pasted. (8339)
- Fixed problem that the DocuWorks document, which is converted from progressive
JPEG, is displayed in DocuWorks Viewer, it may be forcibly terminated. (8341)
- Fixed problem that if you change the DocuWorks Printer settings from AutoCad
LT 2000 in Windows® 98 or Windows® Me, AutoCad LT may be forcibly

- Fixed problem that the cache of the linked folder of DocuWorks Desk is not
deleted. (8372)
- Fixed problem that even if you drag and drop a thumbnail of a document in
DocuWorks Desk workspace, to the printer icon, the document may not be printed.

paper size is customized and the page orientation is in landscape, into DocuWorks
document, its orientation may change to portrait, also some of the data may

- Fixed problem that when you are displaying a binder in the full screen view
and click the link annotation, which is linked to a page of within the same
document, the display format may change to the default. Also, fixed problem
that when you are displaying all the pages in the binder, and then change
the display format from page sorter view to full screen view, the link annotation,
which is linked to a page within the same document, may not work. (8433, 8596)
- Fixed problem that the error handling may not proceed correctly when the
size of the data temporally created for display during the creation of DocuWorks
document, exceeds the upper limit (250 MB) in Windows NT® 4.0, Windows® 2000,
and Windows® XP. (8480)
- Fixed problem that when you open a linked folder, which is connected to
a folder in the password-unspecified server, the authorization may be failed.

[Certificate Attributes]/[Certificate Details] dialog box is shown, Desk or

- Fixed problem that when you rotate a PDF file created by Adobe® Acrobat® and
convert the file into DocuWorks in Windows® 98/Windows® Me, the DocuWorks
file is shown as blank in Windows NT® 4.0/Windows® 2000/Windows® XP. (8580)
- Fixed problem that when you rotate a PDF file created by Adobe® Acrobat® and
convert the file into DocuWorks in Windows® 98/Windows® Me, the image
quality of the file may be deteriorated. (8581)
- Fixed problem that if more than one user move a same file in a linked folder
on DocuWorks Desk at same time, the file may be deleted. (8583)
- Fixed problem that the arrow button may not work properly in the margin
settings of the [DocuWorks Printer Properties] dialog box. (8601)
- Fixed problem that when you set an image to a header or a footer, the response
of DocuWorks Viewer may become slow. (8611)
- Fixed problem that DocuWorks document cannot be created from an image file
based TIFF format (JPEG compression). (8659)
- Fixed problem that the error handling does not proceed correctly for a file,
whose path name exceeds the upper limit; 256 characters, in DocuWorks Desk.

while more than one users are displaying that file in the linked folder in

- Fixed problem that a document may not be created as the settings of the

- Fixed problem that when you print or preview a DocuWorks document which
is created by a certain application data, it may be shown as blank. (8695)
- Modified the specifications that in Windows® 2000 or Windows® XP, when you
convert a document created by Microsoft® Visio® 2002 to a DocuWorks document,
the characters will be converted into text information instead of graphic.

- Fixed problem that when you move a file from a linked folder to another
linked folder by drag-and-drop with holding <Ctrl> key in DocuWorks Desk,
and the same file name already exists in the destination folder, the file
is overwritten even if you have selected "No" in "Do you want to overwrite
the file?" message. (8782)
- Fixed problem that when moving a file from a linked folder to another linked
folder in DocuWorks Desk, if you delete that file from Windows® Explorer, a
message saying that the folder does not exists, appears. (8856)
- Fixed problem that during a process to delete a file in a linked folder,
if the same file is deleted from Windows® Explorer, DocuWorks Desk may crash.

- Fixed problem that the color name tool tips were not set correctly to correspond to the colors in the [Signature Settings] dialog box. (9132)
Read the following notes before installing this update.
3-1 Installation Requirements
DocuWorks 5.0.x needs to be installed before installing this update.
3-2 Installation Notes
- Most files on the Setup disk are stored in compressed format and therefore
cannot be used as they are. You must run the Setup program (Setup.exe) to
install this update.
- Before you begin installation, be sure to exit all running applications.
- If you abort the Setup program midway through the installation, DocuWorks
will not work. You must install this update again.
- If a file copy error occurs, try the following actions to resolve.
-
The destination directory or file is write-protected. Use a different directory or remove the write protection.
- The original file of installation cannot be read. Use a correct setup disk.
- After the installation, do not change the structure of program files' directory or move files, otherwise DocuWorks may fail to run.
- To install DocuWorks in Windows NT® 4.0, Windows® 2000 or Windows® XP, you need privileges equal to those of Administrators.
- DocuWorks must be installed by a user with privileges equal to those of Administrators if restart is required after installation.
Installation may not be completed if a user will not log in after restarting the PC.
3-3 Installation Procedure
Run SETUP.EXE to start the installation, as follows:
- Run setup.exe, which resides in the same directory
as this release note.
The installer starts.
- Click [Next].
The [License Agreement] dialog box appears.
- Verify the information displayed in the DocuWorks
licensing agreement.
If you agree to the licensing conditions, click [I accept terms in the license
agreement], and then click [Next].
A message appears asking whether or not to begin the installation.
- Click [Yes].
Installation begins.
When the installation is completed, the [Setup completed] dialog box appears.
- Click [Finish].
If you are prompted to restart your PC before using DocuWorks in Step
4, be sure to restart your PC.
To see the updated version of the software, from the [Help] menu
of DocuWorks Desk or DocuWorks Viewer, choose [About DocuWorks].

DocuWorks Viewer: 5.0.6 [NA]
