IMPORTANT: As the steps to perform certain tasks may vary depending on the Software Version, it may be important to determine the version of software that is currently installed on the device.  Refer to How To Determine the Software (Firmware) Version Installed on the Device

Xerox recommends that you change the default administrator password after you configure the printer. Be sure to store the password in a secure location. Depending on the software version installed on the device, the default administrator password may be the device serial number or 1111.  The password is case sensitive.

For Software Version 100.xxx.xxx.xxxxx:

Change the password from the Embedded Web Server:

  1. Login as System Administrator to the Embedded Web Server.  Refer to Access the Embedded Web Server

  2. In the Embedded Web Server, click Properties > Security.

  3. Click Password Policies > Admin Password.

  4. Type the old password.

  5. Type the new password, then type the password again to verify.

  6. Click Apply.

  7. Logout of System Administrator mode. Refer to Access the Embedded Web Server

Change the system administrator password at the control panel:

  1. Login as System Administrator at the control panel. Refer to Login or Logout as System Administrator from the Control Panel

  2. At the control panel touch screen, touch Device, then touch Tools.

  3. Touch Security Settings > Change Admin Password.

  4. If changing the password, type the old password.

  5. Type the new password, then type the password again to verify.

  6. Touch OK.

  7. Logout of System Administrator mode. Refer to Login or Logout as System Administrator from the Control Panel

For Software Version 101.xxx.xxx.xxxxx:

After you configure the printer, it is recommended that you change the default administrator password. The user name is admin.  Depending on the software version installed on the device, the default administrator password may be the device serial number or 1111.  The password is case sensitive.  For software version 101.xxx.019.20200 or higher, the default administrator password is the device serial number.

Note:

  • Ensure that you store the administrator password in a secure location.

  • To avoid using the default administrator account, you can create a number of user accounts with administrator access.

  • If you have not changed the administrator password, you are prompted to change the password when you log in as administrator in the Embedded Web Server.

  1. Login as System Administrator to the Embedded Web Server. Refer to Access the Embedded Web Server
