The Fast Black Disable Patch for the Integrated EFI 700 Server is used to remove the Fast Black Enablement patch. Customers can disable the K-only mode by downloading the Fast Black Disable Patch and rebooting the server.

When many K-Only (black only) prints are run in CMYK mode, the C,M, Y drums may become damaged because the color modules are running, but making no color prints. When color printing resumes, the image quality may be degraded due to the old toner and it may take significant time (100 + prints) for the affected toner to get used up before the prints return to acceptable image quality.

When this patch is not installed even if the job is in black & white the 1st BTR's of the color stations CMY in the IOT are not retracted in B & W mode and the machine will keep the process control as it is in a full color job. This leads to low toner in the developer tanks later when the customer is printing full color jobs afterwards. When this patch is installed, if grayscale or Black & White jobs are sent the color stations CMY in the IOT are not retracted, it prints in k-only mode. The switch to the k-only mode or Color mode is automatic depending on the job sent.
