Scanning to a folder is the simplest scanning method. When you scan an image at the printer, the scan file is stored in a folder on the internal hard drive and CentreWare Internet Services (CWIS) can be used to retrieve the stored scan file from your computer.
The default settings create a 1-sided color .pdf document. These settings can be changed at the printer Control Panel or using CWIS. Control Panel selections override the settings in CWIS.
NOTE: Your System Administrator must set up the scanning feature before you can use it.
Scanning to a Public Folder:
The printer provides a public folder to store scanned images. You do not need a password to scan images to the public folder, or to retrieve them. All users can view scanned documents in the public folder. A password-protected private folder can also be created. See the Related Content for additional information
To scan an image to the public folder:
- Load the original on the Document Glass or in the Document Feeder.
- Press the [Services Home] button on the Control Panel, and then select [Workflow Scanning] on the Touch Screen.
- Select [All Templates] from the menu.
- Select the [_PUBLIC] folder from the list.
- If necessary, adjust any of the scan settings, such as:
- Output Color
- 2-Sided Scanning
- Original Type
- Scan Presets
- For more options, select the [Advanced Settings] tab.
- Press the [Start] button. The Job Progress screen will be displayed. The printer will scan the original and the file will be stored on the printer hard drive.
- Use CentreWare Internet Services to move or retrieve the file to your computer. See the Related Content for additional information.
Scanning to a Private Folder
Your System Administrator is responsible for creating private folders on the printer. Private folders can require a password.
Use CentreWare Internet Services to create your own private folders. See the Related Content for additional information.
To scan to a private folder:
