NOTE: Make sure the latest available print driver has been installed on the printer. Make sure to install the correct driver (either 32 bit or 64 bit) for your operating system.

NOTE: This solution requires knowledge of the network on which the printer is installed and may require the assistance of a System Administrator.

  1. Depending on the type of file that was downloaded, perform one of the following:
    • .exefile: Double-click on the [.exe] file to open the file, and then run it.  Make a note of where the files will be extracted or select a location on the computer.
    • .zipfile: Right-click on the file and select [Extract All].  Select a location for the files to be extracted to, make a note of the location, and then click on [Extract].
  2. Click on the [Start] button, and then select [Control Panel]. The Control Panel window will be displayed.
  3. Depending on the View By option, perform one of the following:
    • Click on [View Devices and Printers] under the Hardware and Sound section.
    • If viewing by icons, double-click on [Devices and Printers].
  4. Click on [Add a Printer].
  5. Click on [Add a Local Printer].
  6. Perform one of the following:
    • If the Standard TCP/IP port has already been created on the computer, select the port from the Use an Existing Port pull-down menu, click on [Next], and then skip to step 9.
    • If the port has not been created on the computer, select the [Create a New Port] radio button, select [Standard TCP/IP Port] from the Type of Port pull-down menu, click on [Next], and then continue with step 7.
  7. Enter the IP address or hostname of the printer in the Hostname or IP address field.
  8. Make sure the [Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use] option is not selected, and then click on [Next].
  9. Click on the [Have Disk] button. The Install From Disk window will be displayed.
  10. Click on the [Browse] button, and then browse to the location of the folder that contains the driver file.
  11. Open the folder, select the file, and then click on the [Open] button.
  12. Click on [OK]. The Install the Printer Driver window will be displayed.
  13. Click on the required printer model, and then click on [Next].
  14. Confirm the name of the printer, and then click on [Next].
  15. Click on [Do not share this printer], and then click on [Next]
  16. Click on [Finish].
