Configure Network Scanning Using the Address Book Editor

NOTE: For Mac OS, the Address Book Editor is installed with the Scan Driver installer package.

  1. Open the Address Book Editor application.
  2. If prompted for the connection method, select [Connect via Network], and then click on the [OK] button. If not prompted, skip to step 4. The IP Address Settings window will be displayed.
  3. Enter the IP address of the printer in the field provided, and then click on the [OK] button. The Address Book Editor window will be displayed.

    NOTE: The IP address of the printer can be found on the Configuration Report under the Network Setup section.

  4. Select [New (Printer Address Book)] from the Tool menu, and then select [Server…] from the menu. The Server Address window will be displayed.

To Use the Computer Settings Wizard to Automatically Configure the Computer and Printer for Scan to Network:

NOTE: The following steps assume that the folder designated for scanning has not been previously shared. To make sure, it is recommended that a new folder be created before proceeding.

  1. Select [Computer Settings wizard…].
  2. If a User Account Control message is displayed asking “Do You Want to Allow the Following Program to Make Changes to the Computer?”, click on [Yes]. The Address Settings Wizard window will be displayed.
  3. Click on [Browse…] next to the Save in the Folder field.  The Browse for Folder window will be displayed.
  4. Select the folder to which scans will be transferred, and then click on the [OK] button. The Address Settings Wizard will be displayed again.
  5. Click on [Next >]. A confirmation window will be displayed.
  6. Click on [Finish]. The Server Address window will be displayed.
  7. Enter a name in the Name field. This is the name that will be displayed on the Control Panel.
  8. Click on the [OK] button. The Address Book Editor window will be displayed.
  9. Select [Save All] from the File menu.

To Use the Computer Settings Wizard to Manually Configure the Printer for Scan to Network to a Shared Folder Using SMB:

NOTE: A shared folder must be created on the computer before performing this solution. Contact your System Administrator for assistance in creating a shared folder.

  1. Enter a name in the Name field. This is the name that will be displayed on the Control Panel of the printer.
  2. Select [Computer (SMB)] for Server Type.
  3. Enter the Host Name or IP address of the computer into the Server Name / IP Address field.

    NOTE: If a Host Name is used, make sure DNS is configured on the printer. Contact your System Administrator for assistance.
     
  4. Enter the name of the shared folder into the Share Name field.
  5. Enter a name for the subfolder of the shared folder in the Path field. For example, if a shared Scans folder has been created that contains a ColorScans subfolder, enter ColorScans in the Path field.

    NOTE: Leave the Server Path field blank if there are no subfolders under the main share folder that require access. A scan error will occur if the Server Path field is populated and there are no subfolders under the share folder.
     
  6. Enter the name and password used to login to the computer in the fields provided.

    NOTE: Contact your System Administrator if you are unsure of the login name format and password used for the computer to be scanned to.  If the login or password does not match the format of the computer being scanned to, a scan error will occur.
     
  7. If the computer is not using the default port, enter the required port number in the Port Number field. If using Windows 8, or Windows 7 with Windows Live Essentials use port 445.
  8. Click on the [OK] button. The Address Book Editor window will be displayed.
  9. Select [Save All] from the File menu.

To Use the Computer Settings Wizard to Manually Configure the Printer for Scan to Network to a Shared Folder Using FTP:

  1. Enter a name in the Name field. This is the name that will be displayed on the Control Panel of the printer.
  2. Select [Server (FTP)] for Server Type.
  3. Insert the Host Name or IP address of the server into the Server Name / IP Address field.

    NOTE: If a Host Name is used, make sure DNS is configured on the printer. Contact your System Administrator for assistance.
     
  4. Enter the path to the folder on the server where the scanned images will be saved into the Path field. If subfolders need to be entered, make sure to use the forward slash (/). For example: Scans/ColorScans.
  5. Enter the name and password used to login to the server in the fields provided.

    NOTE:  Contact your System Administrator if you are unsure of what login name format and password are used for the server to be scanned to.  If the login or password does not match the format of the computer being scanning to, a scan error will occur.
     
  6. If the server is not using the default port, enter the required port number in the Port Number field. Valid port numbers are number between 1 and 65,535.
  7. Click on the [OK] button. The Address Book Editor window will be displayed.
  8. Select [Save All] from the File menu.
