Erase Printer Memory / Restore Factory Defaults

IMPORTANT: Erase Printer Memory should be selected if there is a requirement to completely revert all user information on the printer. Restore Factory Defaults option will only clear user settings such as Printer Settings, Network Settings, and Fax Settings. This does not include Security Settings, Shortcut Settings, or other settings on the device.

Note: Please ensure to make a backup of any user settings such as Email Settings, Network Scan Settings, or Shortcut Settings prior to performing the actions below as they may be lost. Erase Printer Memory (and restore to initial setup wizard) From the Control Panel:

  1. From the printer’s control panel, press Settings.

  2. Press Device.

  3. Press Maintenance.

  4. Press Out of Service Erase.

  5. Place a check mark on the Sanitize all information on nonvolatile memory option and press Okay.

  6. Place a check mark on the Start initial setup wizard and press Okay.

  7. The printer will display a screen indicating that the machine is restarting. The user will be prompted on startup to walk through the device’s initial setup wizard.

From the Embedded Web Server:

  1. From a computer (on the same network as the printer) open a Web browser.

  2. In the Web browser address field, enter the IP address of the printer and then press Enter or Return. The printer home page will be displayed.

  3. Click Settings.

  4. Click Device.

  5. Click Maintenance.

  6. Place a check mark on the Sanitize all information on nonvolatile memory option.

  7. Click Start.

  8. The printer will display a screen indicating that the machine is restarting. The user will be prompted on startup to walk through the device’s initial setup wizard.

Restore Factory Defaults

From the Control Panel:

  1. From the printer’s control panel, press Settings.

  2. Press Device.

  3. Press Restore Factory Defaults.

  4. Place a check mark on Restore printer settings, Restore network settings, Restore fax settings, or select Restore all settings to clear all three.

  5. Place a check mark on the Start initial setup wizard and press Okay.

  6. The printer will clear the selected settings. No reboot is required, and changes should be effective immediately.

From the Embedded Web Server:

  1. From a computer (on the same network as the printer) open a Web browser.
