High Pitched Noise When in Standby or Power Saver Mode

This is a known issue with a limited number of machines. A new part has been designed to resolve this problem.  However, there is a delay with obtaining the part due to the current circumstances with COVID-19.

In the meantime, to reduce the occurrence of this issue, try any of the following workarounds:

    1. If the machine is not a high-usage machine, power it off when not in use.
    2. Adjust the power saver timeout settings. The default setting for this machine is 1 minute for Low Power mode and 5 minutes for Sleep mode. These settings can be adjusted up to 59 minutes. Refer to How To Configure Power Saver Settings for additional information.
    3. Recommended action to prevent the machine from going into Sleep mode:
      • Leave the Duplex Automatic Document Feeder (DADF) Top Cover open.  This will allow the device to continue to print jobs with no user intervention.

        Open the top cover


    4. Alternative actions:
      • Leave the right side cover open.
      • Leave the rear cover open.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you close both the right side and rear covers before resuming use of the machine.
