Step 1: Make Sure the Printer is Not in Power Saver Mode

Press the Power/ Wake button on the Control Panel.

Step 2: Make Sure the Paper Tray Settings are Properly Configured and Adjust, as Required

The paper tray settings must match the job requirements in order for the job to print. Paper tray settings consist of paper size, paper type, paper color and paper orientation. If any of these settings are different than the job requirements, the job will not print.

The paper trays may also be fully adjustable or dedicated paper trays. Fully adjustable paper trays allow you to change the paper size, type, color and orientation at any time. Dedicated paper trays do not allow you to change the settings once they are set unless System Administrator mode is entered to modify the default settings.

If a paper tray is opened and closed and the paper tray is a fully adjustable paper tray, a confirmation screen will be displayed on the Touch Screen. Review the paper tray settings and confirm the settings if correct or modify the settings as required for the paper loaded in the paper tray.

If a paper tray is opened and closed and the paper tray is a dedicated paper tray, the screen displays information identifying the paper size, type and color of paper that should be loaded in the paper tray.

If the wrong size paper is loaded or the paper tray guides are not properly set, a warning message is displayed on the Touch Screen. Intervention is required to adjust the paper tray guides or the default paper tray settings.

Step 5: Slower Printing is Expected When Using Certain Types of Paper / Media

Certain types of paper / media like heavyweight or transparencies require more time to print than other types of paper/ media. If you are using heavyweight paper or transparencies, expect the print times to be slower.

Ensure that the tray settings (size, type, color, orientation) and print driver settings are properly set. The device is functioning within specifications so service intervention is not required.

Step 6: Slower Printing is Expected Depending on the Complexity and Size of the Print Job

Items to consider about the original document:

  • The larger the original file size is, the longer it will take to print.

  • The more complex the original file is, the longer it will take to print.

  • If there are many images and / or fine details in the original file, the longer it will take to print.

To improve the print speed:

  • If possible, break the job up into multiple smaller jobs.

  • If possible, remove unnecessary images and fine details.

If you are unable to reduce the file size or complexity of the job, expect the job to be slower printing.

Step 7: Check the Supplies Status and if Necessary Replace the Supply Item
