Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) is a standard network protocol that allows you to print and manage jobs remotely. When IPP is configured, IPP authentication allows users to authenticate their identities using IPP through HTTP authentication methods. An IPP client can pass user credentials to the printer to use for authentication.

To configure IPP:

  1. Access the printer's Embedded Web Server and log in as a System Administrator.

    1. From your computer or network-connected device (on the same network as the printer) open a Web browser.

    2. In the Web browser address field, enter the IP address of your printer and then press Enter. The Embedded Web Server home page will be displayed.

    3. Click on the Log In button at the top, right of the page. The User Accounts window will be displayed.

    4. Click on admin.

    5. Enter the System Administrator password in the field provided, and then click on the Log In button.

Note: Depending on when the device was manufactured, the default password may be the device serial number or 1111.

  2. Click Connectivity.

  3. For Protocols, click IPP.

  4. For Port, enable the toggle button.

  5. For PJL, enable the toggle button.

  7. For Alternate Port (IPP), enable or disable the toggle button.

  8. If you enabled Alternate Port (IPP), for Alternate Port Number (IPP), type a port number in the field, or use the default port number of 80.

  9. For Alternate Port (IPPS), enable or disable the toggle button.

  10. If you enabled Alternate Port (IPPS), for Alternate Port Number (IPPS), type a port number in the field, or use the default port number of 443.

  11. For TBCP Filter, enable the toggle button.

  12. For Password Required, enable the toggle button.

  13. For Connection Timeout, enable or disable the toggle button.

  14. If you enabled Connection Timeout, for Timeout, type the number of seconds in the field.

  15. Click OK.
