Restrict Access to the Web User Interface (CentreWare Internet Services (CWIS)

Note: If you are accessing Xerox CentreWare Internet Services for the first time after printer installation, you will be prompted to change the default Administrator Account password. The initial default password is the printer serial number. For additional information refer toChange the System Administrator Password for CentreWare Internet Services (CWIS).

You can lock the Web User Interface for the device. When the Web User Interface is locked, all areas of the Web User Interface are inaccessible until users logs in. When the Web User Interface is unlocked, users can access all areas of the Web User Interface, except for areas that require administrator login.

Restricting Access to CentreWare Internet Services

Note: The images in this procedure are for demonstration purposes only and may not specifically match your printer model; differences in colors, icons, available tabs/menus and supported options/settings may exist.

  1. From a computer (on the same network as the printer) open a Web browser.

  2. In the Web browser address field, enter the IP address of the printer and then press Enter or Return. The CWIS home page will be displayed.

  3. Click Properties.

    Note: Many features in CWIS require an administrator user name and password to access or modify. If prompted to enter Administrator Account login details:

    1. For User Name, enter Admin.

    2. For Password, enter the administrator account password that was set during initial access to CWIS.

    3. Click OK.

  4. Click Security.

  5. Click Security Settings.

  6. To restrict access to the Web User Interface, for Lock WebUI, select the check box. To allow access to the Web interface, clear the check box.

  7. Click Apply.
