The Resolution affects the appearance of the scanned image. A higher resolution produces a better quality image. A lower resolution reduces communication time when sending the file over the network.

  1. At the printer control panel, press the Scan button.

  2. Load your original documents.

    • For the Document Glass: Place the original document face down in the upper-left corner of the platen glass.

    • For the Document Feeder: Insert the original documents face up in the document feeder, with the top of the page entering the feeder first. Adjust the paper guides so that they fit against the original documents.

  3. Press the up/down arrows to display Scan to Email and press OK. The option to search the address book appears.

  4. To select a local or group email recipient, press OK, then select the option required:

    • To select a local email recipient, press the up/down arrows to display Local Email and press OK. To select an email address, press the up/down arrows to display the recipient email address and press OK.

    • To select a predefined group, press the up/down arrows to display Group Email and press OK. To select a group, press the up/down arrows to display the group required and press OK.

  5. If the Send to Myself? option appears, to receive a copy of the email, press the up/down arrows to display Yes and press OK.

  6. Press the up/down arrows to display Resolution and press OK.

  7. Press the up/down arrows to display the required option and press OK to save your selections. The available options are:

    • 72 dpi: This setting is for on screen viewing only. If you print the image, it can appear grainy.

    • 100 dpi: Recommended for lower quality text documents or if a smaller file size is required.

    • 200 dpi: Recommended for average quality text documents and line art. Does not produce the best image quality for photos and graphics.

    • 300 dpi: Recommended for high quality text documents that are to pass through OCR (Optical Character Recognition) applications. Also recommended for high quality line art or medium quality photos and graphics.

    • 400 dpi: Recommended for original documents that have thin lines, small font sizes, or for image enlargement.

    • 600 dpi: Intended for commercial-quality printing. This option will produce a large file size and can take longer to transmit over a network.

  8. Press Back to return to the top level menu.

  9. Press Start. The device begins scanning the original and then asks if you want to scan another page.

  10. To scan another page, press the up/down arrows to select Yes and press OK. Load an original and press OK. Otherwise, select No and press OK.

The images are scanned and sent to the destination selected in the job.
