There are two methods to configure the paper trays for use: "Load and Program" and "Program and Load". The method to use depends on the preferred workflow.

NOTE: If loading Tab stock, review the procedure specific to Tabs. See the Related Content for additional information.

It is recommended that the Nuvera be paused, or disable the paper tray if the tray is being used for the current job, before opening the tray for re-loading or configuration. This will help prevent paper jams. To avoid loading a paper stock that is not supported by the Nuvera, see the Related Content for a list of recommended papers.

The Confirm Tray Contents window will be displayed any time a paper tray is opened and closed.

When entering the size of Catalog Envelopes, enter the dimension of the envelope with the flap open.

Load and Program method:

  1. From the DocuSP or FreeFlow Print Server Display Screen, if necessary, pause the printer by clicking on the [Pause] button . The button will either be labeled "pause" or there will be an icon of two short, horizontal lines in parallel.

NOTE: The printer will need to be paused if the required tray is currently being used for a job.

  2. After the 'Tray In Use' light turns off, open the required paper tray.

  3. Squeeze the paper edge guides to slide them away from the edges of the paper. If using Paper Tray 2, the rear guide stop may need to be disabled (rotated) in order to slide the guides.

  4. Remove the current stack of paper from the paper tray, if necessary.

NOTE: It is important to fan the paper before loading the paper tray, especially when using hole-punched (drilled) stock.

  5. Fan the new paper before placing the stack of paper into a paper tray.

    1. Place the new stack of paper on a flat surface.

    2. Place the palm of your hand on the centre of the stack of paper to hold it firmly.

    3. Place the other hand at one corner of the stack and fan through the paper.

    4. Repeat this procedure for each corner.

    5. Discard the top and bottom sheet of paper from the ream.

  6. Place the new stack of paper in the paper tray making sure that the feed direction is correct.

NOTE: Load one ream of paper at a time. After loading each ream of paper tighten the paper guides against the stack of paper, then load the next ream of paper.

  7. Make sure the height sensor is not pinned down by the paper stack. If there is too much paper, remove the excess.

  8. Depending on which tray is being loaded perform the following:

    • Paper Tray 2 has a rear guide stop which can be configured for A4 (210 x 297 mm / 8.27 x 11.69 inch) or Letter (216 x 279 mm / 8.5 x 11 inch) size paper. When loading these stocks, enable (rotate to the right) the rear guide stop. See the Related Content.

NOTE: This guide will need to be disabled (rotated to the left) for all other paper sizes used in this tray.

If the guide stop is configured for Letter (216 x 279 mm / 8.5 x 11 inch) and the size needs to be reconfigured for A4 (210 x 297 mm / 8.27 x 11.69 inch), contact support to place a service call. Additionally, a service call is required to change from A4 to Letter sized paper in Paper Tray 2.

    • For Paper Tray 3 or 4, adjust the green baffle at the rear of the tray to prevent larger paper stacks, such as Tabloid / Ledger (279 x 432 mm / 11 x 17 inch), from skewing when closing the paper tray.

  9. Close the paper tray. A pop-up window will display a message asking to either 'Confirm' the paper is loaded, or 'Change' the description of what was just loaded.

  10. Perform one of the following depending on the tray.

    • For fully-adjustable trays, a Confirm Tray Contents alert window will be displayed. Click [Confirm] to confirm the tray contents, or click [Change] to enter the correct stock size / type.

    • For dedicated trays, a Dedicated Tray Contents alert will be displayed.

NOTE: Trays are identified as 'Fully Adjustable' and 'Dedicated' in the Tray Type column of the Paper Trays tab. Review the paper tray settings if needed. From the FreeFlow Print Server Display Screen, select [Paper Trays] from the Printer menu. From the DocuSP Display Screen, click on the [Printer] button, located under the Managers section on the left side of the window, then click the [Paper Trays] tab.

      2. Place the palm of your hand on the centre of the stack of paper to hold it firmly.

      3. Place the other hand at one corner of the stack and fan through the paper.

      4. Repeat this procedure for each corner.

      5. Discard the top and bottom sheet of paper from the ream.
