An error can occur if the printer was setup with an IP address of a computer on the same network as the printer and then the computer's IP address changed. Verify the IP address is correct in CentreWare Internet Services (CWIS) for the destination computer.

In CWIS:

  1. Click on [Address Book].

  2. Open [Network Scan (Comp./Serv.)].

  3. Select [Computer / Server Address Book].

  4. Select [Edit] to the right of the address book entry being used for network scanning.

  5. Verify the [Host Address (IP Address or DNS Name)] has the correct information for the computer being scanned to.

  6. Click [Save Changes] if Host Address was updated.

  7. Test Network Scanning again.

If a host name is being used, verify the host name is correct. If unable to verify the DNS information the printer is programmed with under TCP/IP, contact your system administrator to verify the DNS address is correct.

In CWIS:

  1. Select [Properties].

  2. Open [Protocols].

  3. Select [TCP/IP].

  4. Select [IPv4].

  5. Select one of the following:

    • If the printer is obtaining its IP address via DHCP, enable [Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically].

    • If the printer has a static or manual assigned IP address, then enter the IP address of the DNS server.

  6. Select [Save Changes].

  7. Select [Reboot Printer].

  8. Test Network Scanning after the printer restarts.
