Configure or Modify Energy Saving Settings

The Printer is designed to be energy efficient and will automatically reduce its power consumption after periods of inactivity. The Energy Saver utility enables the machine administrator to modify the time the machine will spend between standby, low power and sleep modes.

The settings can be modified using CentreWare Internet Services (CWIS) or from the Control Panel of the printer.

Setting Energy Saver Mode at the Control Panel

  1. Login as the System Administrator. See the Related Content for additional information.
  2. Select the [Machine Status] button on the Control Panel.
  3. Select the [Tools] tab on the Touch Screen.
  4. Select the [Device Settings] button on the Touch Screen.
  5. Select the [General] button.
  6. Select the [Energy Saver] button.
  7. From the Timers section, select an option:
    • Specify how long the printer remains idle before automatically going from standby mode to low-power mode.
    • Specify how long the printer remains idle before automatically going from low-power mode to sleep mode.
  8. Select [Save].

Setting Energy Saver Mode Using CenterWare Internet Services (CWIS)

NOTE: Users may be required to login as a System Administrator to view or modify settings within CWIS. If prompted, login using the System Administrator username and password. The default username is "admin", and the default password is "1111".

  1. Open CWIS. See the Related Content for additional information.
  2. Click on the [Properties] tab.
  3. Click on [General Setup] to expand the list of options.
  4. Click on [Energy Saver].
  5. From the Timers section, select an option:
    • Specify how long the printer remains idle before automatically going from standby mode to low-power mode.
    • Specify how long the printer remains idle before automatically going from low-power mode to sleep mode.
  6. From the Network Settings When in Sleep Mode section, if required select [Suspend Network Controller Activity When in Sleep Mode] check box. This will maximize energy savings. If suspend is enabled select one of the following:
    • Select [Resume Network Controller Briefly to Poll Novell Print Queues During Sleep Mode] check box, to allow the printer to poll Novell print queues.

      Enter the time in seconds to define the interval the printer uses to come out of sleep mode.
    • Select [Resume Network Controller Briefly to Broadcast Service Advertising Protocol (SAP) During Sleep Mode] check box, to allow the printer to broadcast SAP during sleep mode.

      Enter the time in seconds to define the interval the printer uses to come out of sleep mode.
  7. Click [Apply].
