Install and Configure TWAIN Scanning Using the Xerox Scan Utility (XSU)

The following items must be performed before using the XSU:

  • A Self Signed Certificate must be created.

  • Secure HTTP (SSL) must be enabled.

  • Scan Template Management must be enabled.

  • The XSU must be installed on the computer (which should be connected to the printer via an Ethernet connection).

  • An XSU template must be created.

To create a Self Signed Certificate using CentreWare Internet Services (CWIS):

  1. Login to CWIS as the Administrator. See the Related Content for additional information.

  2. Click on the [Properties] tab.

  3. Click on [Security] to expand the list of options.

  4. Click on the [Machine Digital Certificate] link.

  5. Click on the [Create New Certificate] button.

  6. Click on the radio button for [Self Signed Certificate].

  7. Click on the [Continue] button.

  8. Select the Public Key Size, and then enter the name of the Issuer in the field provided.

  9. In the Days of Validity field, enter the number of days that the certificate should be valid. The certificate will expire when the specified time is reached.

  10. Click on [Apply].

To enable Scan Template Management:

  1. Login to CWIS as the Administrator. See the Related Content.

  2. Click on the [Properties] tab.

  3. Click on [Services] to expand the list of options.

  4. Click on [Network Scanning].

  5. Click on [Scan Template Management].

  6. Select [Enabled] next to the Status option.

To install the TWAIN scan driver on a Microsoft Windows 7 OS:

  1. If necessary, click on the [Drivers and Downloads] link under Related Content to download the "WIA/TWAIN Scan Driver" file, and then unzip the driver files.

  2. Click on the [Start] button, and then click on [Control Panel]. The Control Panel window will be displayed.

  3. Type Scanner in the Search field, and then press the [Enter] key.

  4. Click on [View scanners and cameras].

  5. Click on [Add device], and then click on [Next].

  6. Click on the [Have Disk] button.

  7. Click on the [Browse] button, and then browse to the location where the driver files have been extracted.

  8. Click on the [.inf] file, then click on [Open], and then click on [OK].

  9. Click on [Xerox WorkCentre / Pro TWAIN Scanner (Recommended)], and then click on [Next].

  10. Click on [Finish].

  11. If necessary, click on [Install the driver anyway].

  12. Click on [Next].

  13. Enter the IP address of the printer in the field provided, and then click on [Confirm].

    NOTE: The IP address of the printer can be found in the Configuration Report. See the Related Content.

  14. Click on [Next].

  15. Click on [Finish].

  16. Click on [Run].

  17. If necessary, click on [Run] if prompted when the XSU launches for the first time.

  18. Restart the computer.

To install the TWAIN scan driver on a Microsoft Windows Vista OS:

  1. If necessary, click on the [Drivers and Downloads] link under Related Content to download the "WIA/TWAIN Scan Driver" file, and then unzip the driver files.

  2. Click on the [Start] button, and then click on [Control Panel]. The Control Panel window will be displayed.

  3. Click on [Scanners and Cameras] or [Printers and Other Hardware], then [Scanners and Cameras], and then click on [Continue], if necessary.

  4. Click on [Add device], and then click on [Next].

  5. Click on the [Have Disk] button.

  6. Click on the [Browse] button, and then browse to the location where the driver files have been extracted.

  7. Click on the [.inf] file, then click on [Open], and then click on [OK].

  8. Click on [Xerox WorkCentre / Pro TWAIN Scanner (Recommended)], and then click on [Next].

  9. Click on [Finish].

  10. If necessary, click on [Install the driver anyway].

  11. Click on [Next].

  12. Enter the IP address of the printer in the field provided, and then click on [Confirm].

  13. Click on [Next].

  14. Click on [Finish].

  15. Click on [Run].

  16. If necessary, click on [Run] if prompted when the XSU launches for the first time.

  17. Restart the computer.

To install the TWAIN scan driver on a Microsoft Windows XP OS:

  1. If necessary, click on the [Drivers and Downloads] link under Related Content to download the "WIA/TWAIN Scan Driver" file, and then unzip the driver files.

  2. Click on the [Start] button, and then click on [Control Panel]. The Control Panel window will be displayed.

  3. Click on [Scanners and Cameras] or [Printers and Other Hardware], and then [Scanners and Cameras], and then click on [Continue], if necessary.

  4. Click on [Add an imaging device], and then click on [Next].

  5. Click on the [Have Disk] button.

  6. Click on the [Browse] button, and then browse to the location where the driver files have been extracted.

  7. Click on the [.inf] file, then click on [Open], and then click on [OK].

  8. Click on [Xerox WorkCentre / Pro TWAIN Scanner (Recommended)], and then click on [Next].

  9. Click on [Finish].

  10. If necessary, click on [Continue Anyway].

  11. Click on [Next].

  12. Enter the IP address of the printer in the field provided, and then click on [Confirm].

    NOTE: The IP address of the printer can be found in the Configuration Report. See the Related Content.

  13. Click on [Next].

  14. Click on [Finish].

  15. Click on [Run].

  16. If necessary, click on [Run] if prompted when the XSU launches for the first time.

  17. Restart the computer.
