When setting up Server Message Block (SMB) or File Transfer Protocol (FTP) in the address book, the password fields are not available.

This can be resolved by enabling HTTPS or enabling HTTP - SSL/TLS.  Follow the steps below accordingly.  This change was implemented to make sure the password was secured when being transmitted over HTTP.

To enable HTTPS:

  1. Access the Printer's Embedded Web Server (Web Interface) and Login as System Administrator.
  2. Click Connectivity.
  3. In the Protocols area, click HTTP.

NOTE: Make sure HTTP is enabled (on) by looking at the white check mark with a blue background on the left.

  4. Select the switch to the right of Enable HTTPS and toggle it on. A white check mark with a blue background displays.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Restart Now.

To enable HTTP - SL/TLS:

  1. Access the Printer's Embedded Web Server (Web Interface) and Login as System Administrator.
  2. Click System.
  3. Click Security.
  4. Select SSL/TLS Settings.
  5. Next to HTTP-SSL/TLS Communication, toggle the switch to on by clicking to the right. A white check mark with a blue background displays.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Restart Now.

IMPORTANT:  Once you have enabled HTTPS or HTTP – SSL/TLS, you must log in as the administrator for the Password and Retype Password fields to appear.
