Issue

PostScript vs APPE vs APPE (job expert) may produce different outputs based on object type and layering.  Each job setting performs different operations for image processing and color management.  Objects may appear different in layering and color output.  The differences between the settings can extend to other features.  Affected areas can include transparency, embedded profiles, Spot Colors, N Color rendering and other features.

Resolution

Review the rendering using the Fiery Image Viewer application.

  • PS has limited handling of transparencies. Converting .pdf files to PS can expose some of these limitations.

  • Fiery Job Expert feature detects a job contains transparency and enables transparency optimizations on the job automatically.

  • APPE is generally considered the ideal handling of transparency because the Adobe applications include the same transparency blending strategies and Color Management Module (CMM).

Note: APPE is default, and our system has been optimized for this path. If you are experiencing problems with one rendering option, you may be able to adjust job properties for a satisfactory output.
