Enable Remote Services

IMPORTANT: The digital front end must be configured for communication before Remote Services can be enabled on the device. Follow the instructions for the appropriate DFE. Then proceed with the Enabling Remote Services section of these instructions.

Fiery EX Print Server:

  1. From the Command Workstation logon to the Fiery as an Administrator. The default password is Fiery.1

  2. Navigate to the Device Center tab.

  3. Under the General tab, select Server Configuration.

  4. Select Network Setup from the list.

  5. Select Configure in the lower right corner. The Configure window will open.

  6. To Configure DNS, navigate to the DNS settings by selecting Network>Protocol>TCP/IP>DNS and enter the Primary DNS Server IP address, the Secondary DNS Server IP address, and the DNS Suffix (DNS Domain Name).

    NOTE: If changes are made a reboot of the Fiery Controller is required for the system to accept the changes.

Configure 'System Updates' populating with Customer proxy server details if in use.

  1. Continue with the Enable Remote Services section of these instructions.

Xerox FreeFlow Print Server:

  1. Logon to the Free Flow Print Server as an Administrator. The default password is administ

  2. From the FFPS Main GUI, select the Setup pull down menu.

  3. Select Network Configuration.

  4. Select the DNS tab and enter the DNS Domain Name, the Primary DNS Server IP address in the DNS Server LIst, the Secondary DNS Server IP address in the DNS Server List, and a third DNS Server IP Address if one is available.

  5. Continue with the Enable Remote Services section of these instructions.

Creo CX Print Server With the XC800/1000 Press:

NOTE: Apache software must be loaded in order to perform these steps.

IMPORTANT: Only perform these steps if the customer network uses a proxy server. If a proxy server is not used, configure for DNS. Contact support if required.

  1. Stop the Apache Server. Select Start > Programs > Apache HTTP Server > Control Apache Server > Stop.

  2. Configure the Apache Server. Select Start > Programs > Apache HTTP Server > Configure Apache Server > Edit the Apache httd.conf Configuration File.

  3. At the bottom of the httpd.conf file, add a line stating: ProxyRemote * https://www.proxy.com:port.

  4. Modify the text www.proxy.com:port to reflect your proxy server name or proxy server IP address, and identify the port to be used.

    For example:
    ProxyRemote * https://yourproxyservername:8000

  5. Close the httpd.conf file and save your changes

  6. Start the Apache Server. Select Start > Programs > Apache HTTP Server > Control Apache Server > Start.

  7. Continue with the Enable Remote Services section of these instructions.

Enable Remote Services:

  1. Logon as System Administrator on the PC-UI

    NOTE: Remote Services software is installed on the PC-UI during the XC800/1000 software download. This software is a prerequisite.

  2. From the PC-UI, Click on the Logon button. The Logon window will be displayed.

    IMPORTANT: Cannot logon as Administrator if Print Engine is not in the "Ready" state.

  3. Select Administrator and use the keyboard to enter the Administrator password. The default password is five ones (11111).

  4. Click on the OK button. The main window will display additional options that are only available when logged in as the Administrator. The upper, right corner of the window will display "Administrator" for the mode

  5. Select Start > Programs > Xerox > Diagnostics > Remote Services Client. The Remote Services Client will launch.

  6. If the User Account Control dialog appears, select Allow to continue.

  7. If the Windows Firewall message appears, select Unblock to continue. The Remote Services GUI will launch.

  8. Click Options at the top, and then click Automatic Data Transfer Schedule.

  9. A window will appear where the Machine Data Transmission method, Transfer Time, and Frequency can be set. To ensure data is shipped daily, set the frequency to every 6 hours. Click Close to exit the window.

  10. Test the connection by starting the Push Data Now application. On the PCUI’s task bar, select Start > All Programs > Xerox > Push Data Now application. If a Windows Firewall message appears, select Unblock to continue.

  11. Click Push Data Now. This will perform an immediate Manual Data Transfer

  12. The status of the Manual Data Transfer is displayed in the space immediately below the button. A successful push will result in the message: “the data transmission succeeded.” If the push is unsuccessful contact support for additional support. Select Close to exit.
