IMPORTANT: The Digital Front End (DFE) must be configured for communication before Remote Services can be enabled on the device.  Follow the instructions for the appropriate DFE, then proceed with the instructions for Enabling Remote Services.

DFE ConfigurationEFI Fiery Controller and IntegratedFiery Controller

  1. Connect to the Fiery by entering the IP address of the Fiery in a web browser.

  2. Click on the [Configure] tab.

  3. Click [Launch Configure]. If you receive the Java “Do you want to run this application” message, click [Run].  If you receive a “Block potentially unsafe components from being run” message, click [Don’t Block].

  4. Login as Administrator.  The default password is Fiery.1.

  5. Navigate to Network >Protocol >TCP/IP >DNS.

  6. Click on [DNS].

  7. Enter the Primary DNS Server IP Address, the Secondary DNS Server IP Address if used.

  8. Enter the DNS Suffix (Domain Name) if used.

  9. Click on [Apply].

  10. Reboot the Fiery.

  11. Access the Internet Services home page.  Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the Fiery in the Location or Address field. Press [Enter] on the keyboard. The Fiery home page will be displayed.

  12. Click on the [Xerox Color Press CentreWare] link in the bottom right corner. If a security message appears, select the [Continue to this website (not recommended)] option. The device Internet Services page will display. Continue with the instructions to Enable Remote Services.

DFE Configuration:  FreeFlow Print Server

  1. Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the Xerox Press in the Location or Address field.

  2. Press [Enter]. The device Internet Services window will be displayed.

  3. Continue with instructions below to Enable Remote Services.

Enable Remote Services:

  1. Within Internet Services, click on the [Properties] tab.

  2. If prompted, enter the user ID and password of the device administrator account. The default user ID is admin and the default password is 1111.

  3. Click [Login]. The Properties page will be displayed.

  4. Click on the [Properties] tab.

  5. In the menu on the left, navigate to Connectivity >Protocols> TCP/IP.

  6. Select [TCP/IP].

  7. In the Domain Name area, enter the Domain Name.

  8. If using DHCP, click on the [Enabled] box in the DNS Configuration section to Obtainthe DNS Server Address Automatically or enter the IP Address of the DNS Server(s) in the Preferred DNS Server and Alternate DNS Servers fields, as required.

  9. If necessary, scroll down and click on the [Enable] box next to Dynamic DNS Registration.

  10. Click on the [Enable] box next to Generate Domain Search List Automatically, if required.

  11. Enter the alternative Domain Names as required in the Domain Name 1, DomainName 2 and Domain Name 3 fields.        

  12. Enter the Connection Timeout, if required.

  13. Click on [Apply]. The machine will require a reboot to change the settings. Click [Reboot Machine].

  14. If a proxy server is used, on the Properties Tab, select Connectivity>Protocols>Proxy Server.

    1. Click the Enabled box to Use Proxy Server.

    2. In the Proxy Setup menu, select Different Proxy for each Protocol if the site uses a different proxy server address according to the protocol used on the network (HTTP, HTTPS), or leave the setting on the default of Same Proxy for All Protocols.

    3. In the HTTP Server and HTTPS Server Names, provide a name of up to 255 characters for one or both of these Proxy Servers, according to the site's network. A fully qualified domain name or IP address can be used.

      Note: Ensure DNS Server details are configured correctly if you use domain names.


    4. Enter the required Port Number. The default is 8080, this is the Internet Assigned Network Authority (IANA) recognized proxy port.

    5. If the site's proxy server requires authentication, click the Authentication: Enabled box and enter the Login Name and Password to provide authentication to the proxy server.

  15. On the Properties tab, select Services> Xerox Services> Xerox Communication Server.

  16. Click on the Enabled box next to Server Communication.

  17. In the Transmission Time boxes, enter the required time for the transmission of the machine data to Xerox. The Transmission Time is based on a 24 hour schedule.

  18. Click on [Apply]. A "Settings have been changed" message will display.

  19. Click on [Test Communication Now] to check the configuration.

  20. In the Communication Log area, the status and date and time of  the device’s last transmission is displayed.

  21. If communication was successful and the log displays “Communication was successful”, no further action is required.  If the communication failed, contact Support for assistance.
